Setting up and customizing your chat projects

Project Configuration

Projects are the core of LooperChat. Each project corresponds to a chat widget deployed on a specific domain.

To configure a project, go to the Projects list and click Settings on the desired project.

General Settings

  • Widget Name: Internal name for the project.
  • Website Domain: The domain allowed to host the widget.
  • Display Mode:
    • Float: The standard bubble that sits in the corner of the screen.
    • Embed: Embeds the chat interface into a specific element on your page by specifying a CSS selector.
  • Button Position: Choose between Bottom-Right, Top-Right, Bottom-Left, or Top-Left.
  • Logo URL: The URL of your brand logo displayed in the chat header.

Appearance

Customize the look and feel to match your brand:

  • Auto Open Chat: Automatically opens the chat window for visitors when they arrive on your site.
  • Main Color: The primary color used for the chat button and accents.
  • Header Text: Text displayed at the top of the chat window (e.g., "Welcome").
  • Welcome Message: The initial greeting message visitors see.
  • Chat Language:
    • Auto-detect: Automatically sets language based on the visitor's browser.
    • English: Forces English.
  • Display Powered By: Toggle the "Powered by LooperChat" branding.

Chat Settings

  • Chat Mode: Choose how chats are handled.
    • Human Agents: Chats go to your team members.
    • AI Assistant: AI handles conversations using your datasources.
  • Enable RAG Source Carousel: Show a carousel of source documents with AI responses.
  • Enable Auto Crawling: Automatically update AI with content from your datasources. Use include/exclude URL patterns to control which pages are crawled.
  • Hide chatbox if all agents are away: Hide the chat widget when no agents are online.
  • Hide chatbox on mobile device: Hide the chat widget on mobile screens.

Visitor Information

  • Ask visitors Email address: Require email before chat.
  • Ask visitors Phone number: Require phone number before chat.
  • Visitors must provide identity: Require at least one form of ID.

Notifications

Configure email and mobile notifications for new chats and transcripts.

  • Disable all notifications: Turn off all email and mobile alerts.
  • Email notification for new chats: Receive emails when a new chat starts.
  • Email for unread messages: Get emails for messages you haven't read yet.
  • Email conversation transcripts: Receive the full chat transcript by email.
  • Email user the transcript: Send the chat transcript to the visitor.
  • Mobile notification for new chats: Get push notifications on your mobile device for new chats.

Add quick links (e.g., "Pricing", "Contact Us") to the chat menu so visitors can easily access important pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

Provide a list of common questions and answers in the chat widget so visitors can get quick answers without contacting an agent.

Availability

Set when your chat widget is online:

  • Available using app: Widget status mirrors agent online status.
  • Enable availability schedule: Define specific days and timezones when the chat is active.

Installation

The Install tab provides the unique JavaScript snippet required to render the widget on your site.

Once your project is configured, your chat widget is ready to go live, providing smooth interactions for your visitors.
