Project Settings
Configuring your chat project
Each project is a chat widget deployed on a specific website. Configure it in Settings from the project sidebar.
- Widget Name — internal name for your dashboard
- Website Domain — the domain hosting this widget
- Display Mode — Float (corner button), Embed (inline via CSS selector), or Hidden (temporarily disable)
- Button Position — bottom-right, top-right, bottom-left, or top-left
- Logo URL — your brand logo in the chat header
Choose how the AI appears in conversations:
- Select from presets: LooperChat, Robot, Assistant, Headset, Bot
- Or enter a custom image URL
- Default: LooperChat logo
- Main Color — primary color for the chat button and accents
- Auto Open Chat — automatically open the chat window on page load
- Header Text — text at the top of the chat window
- Welcome Message — greeting visitors see when they open chat
- Chat Language — auto-detect or set manually
- Display Powered By — toggle the LooperChat attribution
- Human Agents — chats go to your team
- AI Assistant — AI handles conversations using your data sources
- RAG — always searches your content before responding. Lower cost.
- Tool Call — AI decides when to search and which tools to use. Supports MCP integrations.
- RAG Source Carousel — show source links below AI responses
- Auto Crawling — automatically keep content up to date (Business plan). Define include/exclude URL patterns.
- Ask for email — require email before chatting
- Ask for phone — require phone number
- Must provide identity — require at least one form of ID
- Hide if agents away — hide widget when no agents are online
- Hide on mobile — hide widget on mobile devices
- Disable all — turn off all alerts
- Email for new chats — email when a new chat starts
- Email for unread messages — email for messages you haven't read
- Email conversation transcripts — receive full transcript (enabled by default)
- Email visitor the transcript — send transcript to the visitor
- Mobile notifications — push notifications for new chats
Add quick links (e.g., "Pricing", "Contact") to the chat menu.
Copy the JavaScript snippet and paste it before the closing </body> tag on your website. A copy button is provided for convenience.
Not shown for Shopify users — the widget is installed automatically.
Connect external MCP servers to extend AI capabilities. Add a server URL and optional bearer token. The AI auto-discovers available tools.
Shopify stores have MCP servers pre-configured for product search, cart, and policies.
Requires Tool Call AI mode.
Add your own API key from OpenAI, Gemini, or Grok for unlimited messages. Available on the Business plan and above.
Without a key, LooperChat's default key is used with plan message limits.
Test the chat widget directly from the dashboard. The widget renders in embed mode so you can immediately start chatting. Click Reset to start a fresh conversation.
Access Preview from the project sidebar or from the projects list.
